  • OMG! What happened to Norton?

After more than four hours with Norton's tech support staff and three attempts to take over my Mac while they puttered around, they finaly figured out I couldn't run WebSafePLUS, I had to run WebSafe (only) because their software doesn't support Monterey. And I still don't know if I have the protection I'm paying for. There's no way to tell. Four hours. Fools.
  • Safe Web icon doesn't update in Safari

As I have seen other users report: the Safe Web icon for Safari on Mac usually doesn't update. Sometimes when I click the icon several times it updates. Many times I have to refresh the page to get it to update. Also the "Untested" icon is the same color as the checked "safe" icon. The only thing different is there is a "?" instead of a checkmark. So it makes it hard to notice. I notice it works on Firefox on Mac. But I want to use Safari on my Mac.

  • Safe Web Icon does not update in Toolbar

The Safe Web Icon in the toolbar does not always update when you navigate to another link. This happens approximately 50% of the time. If you click on the icon, then it updates. This would be a 5-star extension if it just worked consistently. Even when you launch Safari, the icon is never updated until you click on the icon. My start-up page is Google. My OS is Big Sur and I'm also running the latest version of the Norton extension.
  • Constantly problematic

As others have mentioned, Norton is buggy as frack. Constantly asks me to register, even after I did so a year ago. It has me continually reinstalling and re-"protecting" my system, even when nothing has changed. Can't update now after installing OS11.1--it keeps saying update, then close Safari, then update, then it shows it hasn't finished, and the process begins again. I assume I'm protected with the parts that do work, but I really can't be sure. I'll seriously reconsider which app to use when my subscription ends this time.
  • The worst dated securty softward ever!! Not for Mac

Norton is owned by Amazon, THis softward isn't MAC friendly and majority of thier staff are not aware of how to operate a MAC. They offer 100gb with their package but don't tell you not for MAC customers. The next day after I canceled my subscrption, I started getting Amazon calls stating someone made a purchase on my Amazon account. It was all a scam but it was really a coincidence that the day after I close a Norton (Amazon product) and then surf on Amazon site that I get a call from a scammer pretending to be a Amazon rep. Mind you Amazon customer service is not in the US they pay low wages to 3rd world countries. When you all Norton support they half the time don't understand and you have to remind them what you told them in the being of the call. Norton rather pay low wages to another country then support the US. BTW if you buy the package you will need to dowmnload 3 freaking apps to do one thing watch the interent , one to VPN and then Wifi and phone. 3 dam app lets not get started with the laptop.

Keeps on wanting to update. Click update. Restart Safari. App Store still wants it to update. What kind of QA process do you have Norton? This is ridiculous.
  • Poor Mac Support

This is a warning for those considering the Norton suite on Mac. A few objective observations: 1) Hanging or crashing 2) Multiple uninstall and reinstall to keep it working 3) Continuous asking for passwords 4) Pop-ups to register even when it is registered 5) Confusing and inconsistent blocking and unblocking service / firewall protection 6) Poor UI design 7) Outdated and incomplete product documentation As someone who rarely writes a product review, I am compelled to post my experience as a warning for other to consider. I called support tried to get my money back after struggling for 3 months with this, but it was “after 90 days.” I considered filing a complaint with my credit card company but at some point you just have to let it go and warn others. This is on a 2018 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz i7, 16GB RAM with MS Office, Pro Tools and Ableton Live. Nothing else installed.
