With out a way to transfer cards to real life. This has to be the single biggest cash grab game on the entire mobile app market.
  • Pay to win

Be ready to spend money if you want to be competitive. Wouldn’t be a big deal if it was paper magic, but there is no investment value.
  • No one involved in arena should be allowed to touch games ever again.

Pros: Top tier 5/5 new player experience, slick ui. Cons (everything else): Daily grind is usually at least 1 hour (sometimes 2+) which is ridiculous. The best use of the grind rewards is to gamble it in a high-stakes tournament that takes usually 5, 10, 25 days of grinding for ONE entry that if you don’t overpreform to almost WORLD CLASS levels of win rates you lose out. Sure you’ll get random cards but out of a card pool of roughly 50k that you can get 4 of each the likelihood you’ll play with any of them is next to non-existent and they add new cards every 2-3ish months. This system of grind/ gamble is HIGHLY TOXIC as almost a month of grinding hours a day can all be over in less than 10 minutes means your playtime is either mindless grind over and over for short spurts of highly pressured games in which you have to do amazing in or that grind was practically worthless. Every choice this game makes is the worse from charging $5 to roughly $30 for entries into tournaments, overpriced everything even the daily deals, reduced cards in packs and cards taken out of packs so you have to spend extra to get them, extremely slow to fix bugs and updates, website and update notes literally say they manipulate players games unknown to the player to make it more fun but say they don’t do it to important matches (Note: arena will not give exact details to their “manipulation”, arena has been caught lying to it’s customers many times already, arena has been caught manipulating matches in gambling modes and passed it off as bugs, arena can profit making sure big names/ paying players/ content streamers/ new potential paying players win more games). Quality of life fixes are almost nonexistent with games 10+ years old having vital mechanics arena refuses to implement. Arena gives away information with its auto-pauses only when players have a play which lets opponents can roughly guess what the opponent has which is exclusive to arena. Good deals and fun modes are limited and rationed only when new cards are about to come out to FOMO players to spend all their currency. I probably can go on for a small book of the levels of psychotic greed and morally bankrupt arena and the people who run it are but in short don’t trust arena, don’t trust magic the gathering, don’t pay real money for anything in arena or related to MTG/Hasbro unless it’s proxies and don’t trust anyone who tells you this game is amazing as arena 100% pays for positive content.
  • Too much developer manipulation

I understand “game smoothing” strategies but manipulating who I play against (love those mirror matches over and over-Not), my starting 7 and how many lands I start with is ridiculous. Not to mention 4-7 land draws in a row every game or banning cards that destroy the upcoming releases. I have come to the conclusion that arena is for the money and masses. Don’t worry I got time to write this as another opponent is currently roping me…
  • Still horrible.

There is no reason to write a long review because they delete the bad reviews anyway. The shuffler is still the worst of any card game I’ve played. Greedy company with no regard for its players. No in app method to report toxic behavior because they would have to address their issues and possibly employ someone to respond.
  • Not fun

New sets are just over the top. Rares that cost 3 mana that are 3/3 with vigilance that when they enter the battlefield look at your hand a perpetually make a card cost more. Why can’t there just be balance for sets without getting goofy and ruining historic cards that use to have purpose. Not mentioning how the matchmaking is deck based. That also makes the game just not fun.
  • Tired of the same match ups

I’m on this app mainly for brawl, standard has become all about the best 3 decks and it’s not as fun for me, but Brawl is fun. Expect for on this app. When I play any of my decks, I’m playing against the same 5 decks that all do the exact same thing. It’s either Prismatic Bridge, Jodah, Golos, enchantment, or Mono blue artifact that combos off with Paradox Engine. It doesn’t matter what commander or deck I play, or that fact that I build goofy decks, it’s always the same and unless that is literally the only decks people on here play, but this app has taken the joy of magic away for me. And I love MTG. But this app needs to figure out a way to fix brawl so you are facing 4 Jodah’s in a row.
  • Still Rigged, Notes on Community

Rigged play, the game is not playable for long. Drawing is not realistic and stacked against you. You are playing against your opponent as well as the program. Need certain cards later in the game? Prepare to draw them early. No cards in hand? Prepare to draw many lands. Struggle against certain decks? Prepare to face them often. Win a few games? Prepare for a long losing streak. Not only drawing, but matchups are rigged. Many related comments on customer service page which were consolidated into one big comment. Agree with another review which said the themes are becoming woke.... Notes about the community: some use the communication feature to display goodwill, but others use it in a sarcastic, self aggrandizing way. They also: 1) use the timer to make you wait when it's apparent they are about to lose, 2) form decks they wouldn't otherwise play to specifically oppose your deck if they can't otherwise win, and 3) copy decks found on the internet, which is why you often see the same ten or twelve decks. To summarize, a lot of bad behavior and lack of originality.
  • Adding something new!

The game is fantastic! I have suggestion that would make the game more interesting. How about creating an option (on/off toggle) in settings, to enable a player to show what country they are from, by displaying a flag? I also think it would be great, because then we could have tournaments with players representing their countries. Even though everyone knows, MTGA is world-wide, it would be cool to actually see it!
  • Waiting for the server

Whenever I do get to play the game I kinda have fun. Bugs everywhere. Glitchy and slow operating. Currently waiting for the server… which gives me plenty of time to review. Highly suspect I keep getting the same exact cards in my starting hand, and never ever see some cards I have in my deck. Or the cards I’ve removed from my decks magically appear when I’m in game. It’s either all mana or not enough mana. I have 1/3 of my deck as mana, but sometimes only get 2-3 mana for an entire game. How… Still waiting for the server… Allow us to inspect the deck after a game to ensure the “randomness” of the “shuffle”. Allow us to click a button to shuffle the deck as many times as we want. Still waiting for the server… 1 star because I haven’t had a single game where I enjoyed the experience. I’m using the app to practice for in-person games. The app is nothing like the actual experience of playing in person. There is a limit to how long I’ll entertain this app.
