Swann Security

I replaced my older Q-See system with the Swann one, trusting Costco had done their usual proper vetting. It was a big mistake. *System glitches: cameras on the system would randomly drop out and lose video, and mysteriously reconnect for no obvious reasons. *Quality: the camera housings are flimsy plastic and much inferior to the metal on my older cameras. They have toyish feel when you hold them. Also, getting the cameras mounted on the underneath side of the soffit required clever rearranging of bolted up parts. And since articulation is done with teeth joints, not ball joints, getting the camera to point to where you want it is very tricky. *App function: in summary, the worst user experience you can expect. First and foremost, there is no capability to add family members so they also can access the security cameras; what a big miss. Also, once you start the app in live view, and then close it; kiss your phone battery goodbye. Somehow the app keeps some process going in the background that heats up your phone and depletes the battery. I usually restart phone to fix. In addition, streaming video from the NVR is just too slow. I have a multi-gig home internet with Cat6 connectivity. So I know it is not the connection. And what is that “Playback” button at the bottom! The recorded clips are random and for random durations and don’t mean anything, junk. And here is the big reason you should not get this system - the app does not have the function to playback from the DVR! I used to access my DVR recordings on my Q-See system and motion events used to be clearly marked on the time scale. I miss that tremendously with this system. How am I supposed check the history on my DVR when I am not home! *why did it get two star: 4k video, can turn on camera spot light from app, good for basic viewing of live stream if that is what you want.

Got 4 cameras on WiFi. Most of the time, they don’t even connect, and sensor captures clip when object/person is already leaving frame. It’s not my WiFi, router is literally by cameras. When I’m not home, nothing else is connected but the cameras. Horrible.

Does not work Apple Home, can’t be controlled with Siri, no Airplay support, does not work with Apple TV 4K. As of right now I would not recommend the app or Swann wired camera systems.

You cannot view video unless you’re attached to Wi-Fi in 17.4.1 which is ridiculous if you’re at the store and the system notifies you of movement at your house, you can’t see it.

4/15 no longer see “delete” option in storage setting when trying to delete video off video card. Version 5.0 build 1417. The model is the one with two lights and camera in the middle. 4-15 I deleted app and reloaded. The delete and delete all is back.

System works sporadically. Camera at front door alerts when there is motion but hasn’t recorded anything in weeks. Technical support (which is why we went with Swann) is non-existent.

Recently the mobile app has had slow video playback and sometimes not responsive.

Can operate the pan tilt remotely!!! Have the NVR - all wired!!!

Por ejemplo detecta movimiento y graba por unos segundos pero se detiene la grabación aún con el individuo en cámara!! Fuera de eso además se pierde la cofiguracion o no permite dispositivos adivínales después de 3 no entiendo porque! Trate de comunicarme por ayuda aún pagando por el servicio y no hay manera de resolverlo. NO lo recomiendo busquen otra opción.

Pacific time is an hour off. It always keep going back and hour everytime I set it to the right time. When it updates it goes back to an hour off. This throws me off when I’m trying to play back the videos. It’s been like this since I got this Swann. Even on my other Swann camera is the same.
