  • Waiting on customer service

I’ve used Calm Radio for years. I justified a separate subscription in addition to Apple Music because I found they had original content and mixes that were very effective for relaxation (and I have mental health issues). But, I’m starting to suspect that they’ve collected lifetime subscriptions and gone on a permanent vacation, leaving the app to autopilot. There haven’t been any updates in ages, then recently, the icon changed (not even a good change), and that’s it. Today, I went to the Top 40 station and it played all hits from 2017. I’m starting to wonder now if I’ve been over paying for something that no longer is being managed or has value. I’ve emailed their customer service to see if perhaps there’s an explanation - others have said that stations are just repeating playlists that don’t change, but I’ve honestly never noticed because I often just use it for background music when I’m stressed. But, that’s actually pretty messed up if that’s true. Wondering what they’re doing with that subscription money. Update: I received a response, but sadly I am saying goodbye to Calm Radio after several years. I love the music and I love the idea, but some of the playlists have not been updated - the pop stations do not have any music newer than 5 years ago. It doesn’t make me feel confident that anything else has been updated, either. I really do like the idea of having more obscure music sorted by purpose, and it is a great idea for music therapy and treating mental / health conditions. But, I can do that on my own through other apps. If I’m going to be paying for something, I want it to be fresh and not just in appearance. I can understand the raised price for inflation, but it does kind of pile on. The apps are great. I just wish they’d updated with more content.

There is at least 1 app, Jazz London Radio, that will not play when opened. Britain stations are dealing with a Society forcing additional royalties. It’s unclear whether this is the problem, which did affect a previous wonderful jazz station outside London. In sending requests for troubleshooting 5 different techs have responded, requesting identical info from me. Also I don’t understand breaking into a piece to deliver a commercial. I can live with commercial breaks. But let’s get reasonable here. In the middle of a chart?

I am so impressed with the amount of variety within each genre. It seems to have the most soothing version of each artist’s work. Calm Radio adds the right backdrop to every aspect of my day. Thank you.

I have been listening to Calm Radio since its inception, everyday, without exception. Its exceptional array of channels provides something for everyone with a common denominator of serenity, peacefulness and calmness, quintessential elements for a well balanced mind. For this reason, I could not go one day without it. Forever grateful, thankful and appreciative.

  • So glad I got a Lifetime membership - but why the warnings?

I was introduced to Calm Radio when I bought a new smart TV a few years ago. I used the Calm Radio TV app to help me sleep. I started with a monthly subscription, and when I was offered the Lifetime membership I jumped on it and added it to my Apple apps. Now I have Calm Music everywhere. My only concern is with my new router. When I try to play Calm Radio through my mini Pod, I get a warning that “Apple is sending your authentication information using weak encryption.” My old router never sent me a warning. What’s happening with this app?
  • Used to Love so Much. Now it wakes me up :(

In the past, I would give Calm Radio 5 stars. I live the content and the darker screen available on my AppleTV. However, recent changes show the singer/composer for each new song in the list. Which means it brightens my screen and wakes me up. SO SAD 😭! Please consider changing this feature! I don’t want to cancel but I will be forced to unless you change the feature that does the reverse of calming my night.
