Ever since logic got the massive update, latency, cpu distribution, and overal quality of the DAW has gotten gut wrenchingly poor. It makes you want to put a fist through your computer when one day your file decides to have all sorts of problems.
  • Apple will supress this review.

I don’t understand why a brand new Apple computer can't run brand new Apple audio software using updated plugins without glitches, audio dropouts, beachballs, and crashes. I've spoken with Apple’s support team about these issues and they seem to think that my desire to run a 36-track session with a bunch of plugins is completely unfathomable in the year 2024. I say get your act together!
  • M3 Chip not very compatible

I'm opening Logic Pro with Rosetta but it's still not working as expected. I'm not sure how my new machine with better specs performs worse than my 2015 MacBook. The audio playback keeps glitching, the DAW just quits on it's own periodically, lags quite a bit, the list goes on. I'm hoping there's another software update soon that's compatible with the new MacBooks.

Like most in these reviews when the new update hits it causes bugs. My main one is flex constintly crashes. Another is Anteres is delayed when using Auto tune for noreason, and when I try to mess with antares it crashes. Hopefully Apple dumps some money into this, so developers can step it up. I now understand why others are switching daws :/
  • Good but issues

The Dolby Atmos plug-in crashes even using the included demo by just moving placements around. This crash is repeatable over and over and there's been silence from Apple on this. Its' unusable for me even with simple files , but again using the demo included. Needs to be fixed.

Mapping parameters on faders and knobs wont save CC dara. I HAVE TESTED SEVERAL TYPES CONTROLLERS INCLUDING CHEAP WORLDE PANDA TO NOVATION MK SL PR0. All unable able to save my knobs and faders. Im not the only one to run into these issues using updated Logic X DAWS

I have a high end Mac with oodles of RAM and am a very xperienced user. Logic crashes. A lot. I Switched over to Studio One because it rarely crashes and the workflow is better. It is also more customizable -- you can move the mixer channels around to organize your mixing! Seems silly, but it really helps speed things up.
  • It's good

I use this daily - & it's good for what it is. It is the only native DAW, made by Apple for MacOS so it's a no-brainer. The optimization & stability is that good. I do feel like there is an extreme lack of meaningful support, however. Updates are scarce compared to other DAWs - & they are extremely limited. While some efforts have been made - some plugins still retain an aesthetic that looks decades old. Be prepared for potential FOMO when looking at all the shiny new features DAWs have been getting lately while the Logic team releases a somewhat important update every few years.
  • Worst thing about it is that Apple makes it

Great tool, works well even with limited cpu & ram resources. However since this is made by Apple there are the classic stupidities included with the app. Forces users to download an 'essential sounds' library. New features are implemented at the cost of fixing long standing bugs. File sizes are ridiculously big-- in comparison a large TouchDesigner project (similar workflow where you load and manipulate data) can still be measured in kB while even small LPX projects are mB in size. This makes no sense. Wouldn't be surprised if LPX asks you to try Apple Music every time you launch a year from now.
