I love this app! This has been the most useful app for my family, as well. I love the widgets, the most. Definitely worth the download!

I was disappointed to see that the app added three things to my shopping list that no one in our house ever heard of. They each had a disclaimer saying someone in your household added this to your list. My other criticism of this is that if you mistakenly touch your shopping list, things will just disappear. You have no idea which one it was.

I use the app for my restaurant. I have a lot of items that I have to check. It would be nice to have a place to mark the things I checked but didn’t need. I’m constantly second guessing myself. Took away a star for developer work around

Updated 2/27/24: this is still by far the best grocery list app that I have found on the market. I love it and use it daily from both my phone and my computer. I still would like the two features mentioned below (choose photo should allow search from the Internet for product photos and grocery list import from online recipes would be a great perk). I have also noticed an annoying function where every time I add a note to a grocery item it creates a new grocery item. It would be much better if the notes could just be appended to the existing item, instead of a new item added for each note. For example, if I need specifically an 8 ounce can of tomato sauce and I add 8 ounce to the notes, I now have two tomato sauce entries, one with the notes blank and one with 8 ounces in the notes. If I need a 14.5 ounce can of tomato sauce next time and add 14.5 ounce to the notes, I will have three tomato sauce entries. This is pretty annoying and requires me to have to go clean up my master list regularly. Still, I love this app and highly recommend. Updated 12/29/21: I upgraded to premium and now have the ability to add photos and notes, but I’m reading that those features are free now so I guess my $10 just went to support development (that’s ok). There are 2 new features that I want to see. I can add a photo to a recipe but I have to TAKE the photo and can’t just upload from images on the internet (and the font is pretty small so photos are hard to see anyway). Please allow for internet search so I don’t have to put grocery photos in my camera roll (and maybe let me increase font/resolution so o can see my photos better)! I would also LOVE to see recipe import features similar to Paprika where I can import a recipe from anywhere and have the ingredient list translated and uploaded into my grocery list. This would help sooo much with meal planning! I know there’s an option to type in and save recipes but with so many available online from so many sites, I’d rather just enter a url and pull it into the app. I’m still happy with this simple grocery list app. I’d love to see it do more!! Original review: I had a grocery list app for years called MyShopi that was the absolute best app I had found for preparing and shopping with a grocery list. I used that app for years before the company removed it from the US App Store and moved to only being in the Netherlands and France. I have been looking for something close to that functionality and finally got the closest with OurGroceries. I haven’t upgraded to premium yet but one difference is that MyShopi allowed internet uploaded photos by default. Not sure on the premium options but I hope it allows me to search the Internet to add photos of grocery items rather that taking them myself. There are two enhancements that I would love to see to improve my OurGroceries experience. The first is multi-select from the master list. With MyShopi it was a breeze to create my shopping list. I would browse through my saved items by categories and tap away as I remembered things I needed to buy. OurGroceries does allow me to categorize my master list and select items from it but it only allows one at a time and takes me into the Shopping list after every selection, forcing me to click back into the master list to continue building the list for my shopping trip. It’s a pretty inefficient way to sit down and build a shopping list. Also, I would love the ability to add short notes that will display below the item in my shopping list. OurGroceries has a “Notes” section but those are in a separate area and not tied to grocery list items. With notes that display on the shopping list, I could remind myself or my husband of customizations to list items without having to add whole new list items. Some OurGroceries features are better than my one true love MyShopi. I love the Amazon Alexa integration and adding items as I run out of them in my kitchen. The skills options make it so easy to be able to do what I want using Alexa. I also like the ability to customize my own categories and order them my own way. This makes it so much easier to make my list match the layout of my grocery store. I also love the customization on how to cross items off my list. I chose a long press and it really helps prevent accidentally crossing off shopping list items. Thanks to the developers for a simple, easy to use product. With just a few more updates, I won’t be tempted to learn French just to get MyShopi back!
  • Trouble with synchronization

    Von BadWolf2112
I’ve used this for several years. Recently, I decided to set up an account so my wife and I can use this to keep track of the shopping together. When the sync works, it’s nearly instantaneous. However, we frequently struggle with it refusing to synch changes. Often the app says that it’s offline but my internet connection is fine. Toggling airplane mode doesn’t resolve it. Also, when I created an account for the purpose of synching on both of our phones, the app completely wiped out all of my existing lists. No warning, just gone.

The only thing I don’t like is that I didn’t find this app sooner. So user friendly and easy to use. Every time I think of feature that could be helpful, I jump over to the user guide and it is already there and easy to follow!

Please add the option to get Notifications when items are added by other family members!!! The biggest appeal to me about this app is that I no longer have to worry about accidentally deleting items on my list like I’ve had happen with other grocery list apps. That said, it’s very important to be able to get notifications when other family members add items to lists. I have ADHD and having that option to have reminder notifications would be huge. I agree with other reviewers about categories and needing customization abilities for different lists. Please add Notifications options soon!
