  • Objective

I love the Economist. It is the most objective and well written periodical currently available.
  • What happened to the App?

For the past few months this app has been utterly unusable. I don’t know what happened but suddenly the App started consuming 3% of my phone battery per minute, and it crashes halfway through any article. I have updated the app numerous times hoping they will fix the issue, I don’t know what is up but the app is broken
  • App is slow and terrible and buggy

I am dumbfounded that the Economist can have such high quality writing wrapped in such a low quality app. If one of its writers reviewed its own app, it would be a brutal takedown and the conclusion would be that journalism is dead. The legacy app was 10000x better (and it was just a simple app that mirrored the print edition). Stop the ironic hypocrisy and please fix the app!
  • Looks nice but ridiculously slow

So slow to download, respond, update.
  • App frequently crashes

    Von AAPSO
The app frequently crashes, despite having good content.
  • Can it be more sluggish?

    Von JakeEpson
The app doesn’t meet the basic standards of quality. Response time is slow. Scrolling is glitchy. App crashes often. I moved away from print subscription to digital subscription hoping for a better user experience. I am likely not going to renew my subscription because of the sub standard app.
  • Crashes constantly

    Von Shorelle Green
Sadly the great content of The Economist magazine is mostly inaccessible through this garbage app, which regularly crashes while I am reading. I have updated my iOS and the app but this keeps happening. Time to cancel my subscription I guess.
  • Why suddenly American accent to the daily updates?

    2
    Von Kaytou
One of charm of listening to your app paying $20/ month is also listening to the proper British accent as the Economist represents its root as such. This sentiment is shared by my friends who also subscribe. Since several months ago, now I am hearing “american” narrators on World in Brief. WHY? Very disappointing.
  • Would be better if it had a consistent font size

    2
    Von B.W.O.D.
The apps constantly updated portion (The World in Brief) uses a tiny font compared to the rest of the app, so if you wanted a consistent reading experience you have to constantly toggle the font size.
  • Huge memory and battery drain

    1
    Von David V1988
One of the recent updates introduced some sort of memory leak where the app is painfully slow to use and drains the phone battery. I love the economist but the developers should step up if we’re paying an ever increasing subscription fee.
